hi all

a few months ago there was a draw at our club, the prize being a £50 voucher to spend at derbyshire bonsai centre.
i was lucky enough to win it
now, for fifty quid, you don't get much and this deshojo maple has one sided branching and a two root nebari but there was just something about it (dunno what it is though:blink
i went with a hundred pounds in my pocket to get a nicer tree but this one was exactly fifty pounds and i couldn't see anything that took my fancy for upto £150.

the one-sided deshojo

the maples are my favourite deciduous trees

john

btw, forgot to say, it stands about 22" tall or thereabouts

i used to be indescisive- but now i'm not so sure

You lucky chap John .

I would say just let it 'grow out further' on the right hand side to counteract the imbalance, then later further work can be done

Nice win there John,

Check out how it looks with just tilting the potting angle a little.

I think you have a tree that will look awesome in just a few years.

Is there any progress to report this year John?

My name is Don and I'm a bonsaiholic.

Now, where are those tablets?

Very nice to win something like that. I'm not at all lucky in draws and raffles. Well done!

thanks all- i don't usually win stuff so it was really nice to win the £50 prize

don

the only thing to report is that the leaves didn't turn those beautiful salmon hues like my other deshojo/seigen maples normally do
in fact none of them did- i hope that's just a result of the wet year we've had and and nothing more sinister

please thank mary for the jam, it was delicious

regards, john
