The talk sounds very good, Kath. I didn't get to U3A Gardening Group on Wednesday but hope to go to the next one - they're held monthly.
You sound busy with your craft. I won the bidding for the Guernsey pattern I wanted on the internet and await it's arrival to start my jumper. I'm knitting a baby's blanket/shawl at the moment.
Had a surprise when I checked the vegetable garden this morning, the garlic I planted is shooting already.
Hope you have a good weekend. There's a big Bazaar in town tomorrow, held by the local Catholic Church - usually some good hand-made things there.

I've always wanted to visit Wells, to see the Cathedral, and had the chance to go there yesterday. The heavens opened and it rained all the way there, stopping as we arrived, so I was able to take photos of a very wet town and will post them on the internet later. Saw the wonderful mechanical clock in the Cathedral but the Bishop's Palace was closed.
I've been searching for a pattern to knit a Guernsey, patterns being discontinued. Came across an excellent wool shop in Wells, stocking a huge range of patterns and came home with 6 different ones for Guernseys. Starting to knit myself one now, using Scottish flag and bar stitches.
I've also just ordered a knitting pattern on EBay, to knit dog coats. Ziggy will be nice and warm this winter and I'm knitting him a blanket in Aran wool. I used the same wool to knit myself wellie socks, which I'm wearing all the time as they're so cosy.

A very wet morning. I uncovered the onions yesterday as I think they will be safe from birds - hope so. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Time for a cup of tea. Listening to cricket on the radio.

Another one of those miserable, dull, grey, drizzly mornings here, but had a good morning, every fortnight is the gathering of our small/happy parchment group, lots of tea/coffe/homemade cake and oodles of laughter, do we get much parchment work done!!!! strangely enough 'Yes'

Nice to have tea and goodies when "crafting", Kath. I saw a book in the charity shop the other day on parchment work. I'll see if it's still there when I go in next.
I've started Ziggy's indoor coat and am working away on my Guernsey.
Hope it's drier where you are than it is here. Fine drizzle all day.

| Wednesday evening brought us round to the Annual General Meeting of SYBS. After the formal ellection of officers etc. we had the, by now, traditional auction of bonsai related items. It was like a wharehouse, I've not seem as much stuff before. I restricted my purchases to a bonsai variegated ivy, a large tray/pot suitable for a substantial forest planting, a replica TerraCotta warrior and reclining chinese figure. I sold books, trees and videos. The club takes 10% 0f the exchanged money into it's funds. This helps to pay the venue rent. Our proposed activity programme for 2009 includes more hands-on or workshop evenings in response to popular demand. The December meeting will include a winter display of trees and a talk by Alan Harriman about picking the right pot for the right tree. PS As usual, in spite of his resolution to withstand temptation, JohnBaz walked off with the second highest amount of purchases.
My name is Don and I'm a bonsaiholic. Now, where are those tablets?

AGM of Colchester Fuchsia Society is Dec. 4th. also items brought into meeting for sales dept and also 10% goes to Funds, at Summer Shows its 20%, but I never begrudge giving this as we all know (although there are always members who do not appreciate this fact ), the costs of venues, even local small halls for monthly meetings are getting more and more expensive, mainly due to councils charging WAY TOO much for the Community Charge on such places, should be a charge of £0 in my way of thinking, after all these halls are mainly used by local people who already pay Community Charges on their own property, but let's not get into politics, a losing battle in my opiion. We also have a bit of a 'Christmas Evening' at this meeting, everyone brings a dinner plate with items of food on it for the buffet, zo we all have nice nibbles too
