Looks good.Don`t forget to clean any of the bark etc.

and put some grit/or whatever on the top,so its not just soil you see.

Thing is its a combination of things to make it get that bad.most have never been repotted/pots never replaced/cleaned and just never given a tidy each week.

takes afew mins it pickup dead leaves/weeds each week.If the top soil/dressing looks awful then that reflects on the tree.

once you replace the soil with some free draining stuff.and keep up to date on the maintenance it wont come back.

i replace/tidy my dressing on my trees every 3/4 months.

Btw post a pic of the tree after you cleaned it up.

Having seen the pot, I am sure that the root cause of your trouble is the moisture retentive planting medium.

Where are you in the world? because it may still be possible to re-pot the tree into a suitable free-draining medium. The roots could be thoroughly cleaned along with the pot and start without moss or slime.

Yeah how long ago did you clean it of.?its slime mold for sure can come from stored rain water etc.

The normal moss will make it look like the roots are rotting.you need to bin the moss on there to,as the spores will be in there and it will only return.

So clean it all of again,replace the moss and add a dressing of akadama etc.Then when you repot it.replace all the old soil and give the pot a good clean to.

and dont put that tree near others,or spray it as that will spread the slime:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

thank you all very much for your help . when iv taken off the top and replaced it it came back , and on this one the roots at the top which it was on have rotted away or the mystical black slime has eaten them :(

its just a form of Moss,algae slime stuff.When was the last time you replaced cleaned the top/dressing of your trees?

If its not on the tree itself just replace the dressing with new stuff.no need to spray it etc.

never seen black slime however.:P:P sure its not green and black when wet.sounds like slime mold.

Its on the soil rather than the bark I think and is not slime flux. Spray with fungicide or malt vinegar and scrape away the residue when dry. A repeat application may be necessary if you don't get it all first time.

This may be an indication that the soil is not free-draining and this should be remedied when re-potting.

Do you have a local bonsai society to which you could take the tree for inspection? Or a knowledgeable local nursery?

could anyone help me plz . iv got this black tar like slime on 2 of my bonsai trees soil . when you touch it it is slippy and tacky , u have black on your finger after rubbing it . it is even maken the moss black as well . could some one plz help me :(
