I'm fairly cetain that it's Lonicera nitida sometimes known as the dwarf- or shrubby-honeysuckle.

it should be outside - it's hard as nails. I know don's got a few mature specimens of this one - a bit bigger than yours best to plant it in the ground and forget about it for 10 years or so....

Hi

Are the leaves scented when you crush them? if so it could be a pepper tree (zanthoxylum piperitum)

These are quite common as bonsai and are 'indoor ' trees

Best regards
