Hi all!!! I got a 26 year old Cedrus brevifolia/ Cyprus Cedar. I purchased it from due to the tree's health. The owner wasn't in good condition to look after the tree. I got it for GBP35. He had a more than a thousand trees but this was one and only of its kind variety in his garden. I didn't have the courage to style it so I had it in my garden untouched. Then Wessex Bonsai invited Peter Adams for a styling session in the club on 8th April 2008.I took the tree in and he gave me some tips on styling and drew a rough sketch of what I might want to achieve after styling and after a few years time. I agree with his suggestion and had put my sleeves up and gave the tree a hair cut. Will give it a months to recover and will wire it on late autumn. Will start jinning/sharis next year.

What do you guys think? Would want more suggestions on shaping the branches. I'm not experienced with styling cedars. Is it fairly the same as Pines??? Do you achieve needle clouding by wiring it like how what you do with pines?

Who are we to argue with Peter's suggestions?  Its a good target to aim for.  Meanwhile, it might help to take some of the upward growing bits off.  Feed it to encourage new clouds.  You won't get big leaves on there. Is it my imagination or is there a smell of vitamin 'B'?

My imaginary friend Givitago takes over when I'm not sure of myself in print. He's not a complete fool - several bits are missing.

Don, thank you for your advise. I like Peter alot too,his works are inspirational. I've got problems with approaching on wiring cedars as I don't have much idea or have seen anyone wiring one. Ever. Do i wire it like how you would wire pine branches or descideous branches? Please advise as I'm a newbie on wiring cedars.I didn't have much time to speak with Peter as everybody wanted 2 talk to him.

Your right again. That's a Vitamin B1 bottle. My wife said that I should put something else thats common so that's why I gave it a can of wings.

By the way, Don do you know other fertilizer that's got high nitrogen for this tree? I'm currently feeding it blood fish and bones at the moment, because these are the only one I know that's got high nitrogen. I heard about a certain brand but I forgot which one. It's not organic at all....hmmm. Any idea?

Don't know of any organic high nitrogen fertilizers, but someone else probably will do. This is what I use, it is readily available from garden centres and costs £3.99

Any fertiliser used for lawns is a high nitrogen feed, but DO NOT use feed and weed
