I've planted different types of mint, including blackcurrant mint, tricolour sage, chives, several sorts of thyme and corriander, but that was eaten - by birds? I've just seen wood pigeons eating rose leaves, which I've not seen before.

I know it's not a herb, but I also got two courgette plants and am going to grow them on a compost heap when the weather warms up enough to put out the tender plants.

Hi,
I don't know the scientific reasons and perhaps I'm wrong but wilted plants seemed to ... If they put out about 500 watts of light it's very similar to natural sunlight. ... I plant them usually up to an inch (2 1/2 cm) from the leaves. ..... Compost - 2 May Remember to keep the compost heap going. ..

I've never heard of birds eating herbs before. I have rosemary, mint and parsley growing in my garden. The rosemary always seems to grow well and is very hardy. It's usually the last plant to die off in the winter.

Rosemary cuttings of the current year's growth strike easily and can even be started in water.

I have bonsai designs on a huge one in my garden but have found that if I cut back any part beyond the existing leaves, it doesn't regrow or back-bud. The transition to bonsai size is therefore going to be a long procedure of cutting back gradually over the years. The one in question presently occupies an area of about 9 sq. yds. or the size of a small room. It's a long haul.

My name is Don and I'm a bonsaiholic.
My imaginary friend Givitago takes over when I'm not sure of myself in print. He's not a complete fool - several bits are missing.

I don't think birds likes to grasp on herbs. Maybe their are other pest in your area that are diminishing your mints.

As we know that herbs are very good organic medicine. So I would love to use herbs. Basically I use herb like basil, oregano etc; while cooking food. Most of the herb I buy from market and few of the herbs I planted in new pro containerss. I give a good care of such valuable plant.
