Yes I know what you're going to say, "She needs to get the scissors and do a bit of thinning out" but you see this is what happens when you go away on holiday

I'm still playing 'catch-up', and the trellis needs a coat of wood preservative too, but I'm getting there

Thank you Penny and Roy.

We are probably a little bit milder down here in Essex, than you are up there in North Yorkshire Roy, plus my back garden is pretty sheltered as there is a 6ft. privet hedge around same

The acers are slightly ahead of mine, Kath. Mine has leaves but not as fully open as yours. Your our sheltered garden must be a big factor in their being so developed.

I noticed tiny pink buds on the piece of hawthorn I planted a few weeks back, but can't photograph it as I've lost my camera. I'm claiming on my house contents' insurance and hope the claim is successful.

Hi Penny, so sorry to hear that you have lost your camera, especially at this time of year when you want to get 'snapping', do hope the insurance pays up without too much hassle.

In repect of being slightly milder here, we are also 'tucked-away' in a corner, right on the SE coast and that also helps to keep as one or two degrees warmer throughout the winter months compared to being further inland.

I didn't mention it before but I'm tickled by the unusual use of a cascade pot for an accent plant accompanying the Larix.

My name is Don and I'm a bonsaiholic.
My imaginary friend Givitago takes over when I'm not sure of myself in print. He's not a complete fool - several bits are missing.
