| Hi all, i have a problem with my cascade ash tree in that lots of the leafs are curling up. i think there is some sort of insect inside the leaf, which may be causing the problem. Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

| I think that its a small caterpiller that does this Roy. If you tree is small enough to fit into a bucket, prepare the bucket of water with a little detergent added. Up-end the tree while supporting the medium with a hand and dunk the tree upside-down into the water. Agitate it slightly for a few seconds then withdraw and allow to drip without shaking. This will be all that is needed. If the tree is too big for this method, spray with the detergent laced water thoroughly including the undersides of the leaves. This may need to be repeated and will not harm the tree. An even stronger insecticide can be prepared by incorporating a small amount of cooking oil in the detergent. A very little goes a long way.

| Many thanks Don, I hope the pictures are of use to other forum members who may encounter the same problem. I'm off to prepare some soap water spray.

Yep, would whole heartedly agree with Don Roy, I had a similar occurance two years ago on crab apple tree leaves, did the same as Don suggests but then used Stergene (similar thing, soft soap) and it did the trick
