Three weeks ago a dear 'fuchsia' friend sadly passed away, she and her husband also having been fuchsia bonsai enthusiasts.

I feel very privileged and it gives me great joy to have been asked to care further for the fuchsia bonsai below.

I first worked on the large specimen at the back of the above photo, 'Little Jewel' who is 22 years old. I cleaned all the moss and star plant from the top and gave the surface roots a good brush with a hard toothbrush.  At this stage I have only trimmed the top slightly, as flower buds are appearing, so will continue further with this later in the season after flowering has finished.

It is now in a larger temporary pot to recover from the cleaning, a little root pruning, and repotting. I am going to visit our local bonsai nursery next Thursday,

am sure I can find a more suitable pot.

I hope that my trees will receive similar care when I've gone. Gudonya Kath.

My name is Don and I'm a bonsaiholic.
My imaginary friend Givitago takes over when I'm not sure of myself in print. He's not a complete fool - several bits are missing.

Nice to see the increase in your family. Sad to hear of your friend's passing.
