Opening today! The Garden Shed Tea and Coffee Shop.
Hope to see you here sometime for a refreshing cuppa and a natter. I've dropped by for a cup of tea. It's just after 5 p.m. and I've come in from sawing a big branch off my Bramley apple tree. I was wary of climbing the steps to reach it after having fallen earlier in the year but made it without mishap.
A lovely sunny day, today, but the ground is so dry. We're in need of rain. Is it dry in your part of the country.
Hope you're soon feeling a lot better, Kath, and that the acupuncture and massage did you good.
Penny

A dry day here but not sunny. Wwe have a good forecast for the weekend and a dry week ahead.

So you are dry, too, Don! I'd rather have the rain than hot dry weather.
Isn't it dark early. It's pitch black outside (7.43 p.m.) and a few minutes ago I was out sawing off yet another huge branch from the Bramley. The passion flower I planted last year has grown very quickly and a lot came down with the branch.
Time for a cuppa and to put my feet up and watch a film on TV. "The Addams Family" has started.

| Hi there Penny, Thank you for opening the Garden Shed Tea and Coffee Shop here, pity we're not all nearer together, if that were the case we could have had a 'CHAMPAGNE OPENING' with a bar-b Yes, thank you very much, a session of manipulation (wish I knew how these people nearly get your leg around your neck , a few 'wet' electrodes around the toes, some needles in the legs and back and away we go again . Seriously though, the deep acute pain in the groin has gone, just a bit tender due to the manipulation, but that is normal, one more treatment next week should cure it. Indeed, what beautiful weather again, I'm so glad, as having been out of action for a week, lots to do - slowly, slowly of course. Have a table and chair down by the bonsai garden, and have been hard pruning the fuchsia bonsai, re-potting if need be. They will still stay outside for a while, the September/October heavy early morning dews helps the new shoots come through the hard wood again, they will only go into the greenhouse for the winter months when less than 7c night temps are forecast. http://forums.bonsaigarden.net/Topic1707-5-1.aspx Just had our Saturday treat, 'Fish and Chips' so off to the garden again. Enjoy this beautiful weather everyone, have a great weekend

Unfortunately I missed that bit with your legs round your neck Kath but it sounds as though you are doing something right. Keep up the good work.

Must have been quite a sight, Kath! Trust Don to think of that.
A BBQ would have been very good. We can imagine we had one in this lovely sunny weather.
I hoed and weeded in my sister's garden today after walking to Bradford-on-Avon to delivery Cecil to his minder and then collected a second-hand bike and cycled home. I've just planted some winter cauliflowers and sprouts which I got from a very eccentric lady who's garden, between Rowde and Devizes, is jam-packed with vegetable plants and flowers. She wears a woolly hat and trainers and an apron and looks to be in her 80's. She works the garden with her son. Bought some spinach for lunch tomorrow, too. They breed rabbits, as well.
I also got a telescopic-handled tree pruner to get at the high branches of the apple tree.
Hope you all have a very good weekend. I'm in need of something stronger than tea and will have a sherry after supper.

| 'Snap' Penny, I too bought some new telescopic tree loppers last week, they are so useful with that bit of extra length, spares going up a couple of extra rungs on the steps, but I must wait awhile before attempting to lop the 2nd. magnolia tree. Enjoy your supper and that well earned sherry, perhaps you might even do a few rows of the Aran. Yes, I used to be an avid knitter, a bit extreme though, anything from 2ply Fair Isle twin-sets to very heavy Scandinavian style sweaters for hubby. I'll look up some photos of my earlier cross stitch pieces for you, mostly worked with a single thread on 32 count linen. Am going downstairs for a coffee now and back to the Parchment work, have a great Sunday all

Ah, that's a coincidence, Kath. Be careful climbing ladders, etc. I pruned some big brances off my magnolia a while back. I have my pruner here in the kitchen, still wrapped up. Will open it and try it out later.
Look forward to seeing the cross-stick work you did. I enjoy knitting with 4 fly and have knitted guernseys in the past. Will probably do one next. The wool is difficult to get hold of locally , though I expect I'll find it in Bath or on the internet. I once knitted a baby's shawl with very fine wool.
Forgot to say, yesterday, I enjoyed the photos of your fuschia bonsai. There are some fuschias on sale at Palmer Gardens so must look to see if there's a suitable hardy variety I could train as a bonsai.
A misty Sunday morning. I've watered the new vegetables and am getting ready to go to Harvest Festival Service at West Ashton Church. There's also a Christening with the Service - I was hoping to get home for the start of the Grand-Prix, but will probably miss that.
Hope you have a more pain-free day and can enjoy your garden.

Good morning, folks. No mist this morning and I don't think we'll see the sunshine today. I've been out early and pruned more of the apple tree, watered the vegetables and planted tiny wallflower seedlings my sister grew. Time for a cup of tea. Hope you all had a good weekend.
