| Here the same Penny, more cloud than sun today, although still dry, but the forecast for tomorrow is a different story. I'm very angry with the young blackbirds at the moment, all my re-potted bonsai have had the soil 'scooped out', I don't know what they are looking for because there can't possibily be insects in this new soil. Perhaps they just like playing with the new soft soil. Anyway have added more soil to the pots/dishes and covered the whole area with light green-shade netting, will see if that deters the 'little-devils' Have dug out a few of my earlier cross stitch pieces for you to see, enjoy. This measures nearly 3ft x 2ft. 6in. a map of the Netherlands, with counties and county cities, took me nearly 4 years of winter evenings to complete, worked on very fine linen and most of the cross stitch worked with a single thread It has won several 1st prizes in the Handicraft Section of local Horticultural Shows.

Appreciative Oooh's and Aaah's from Sheffield.
My name is Don and I'm a bonsaiholic.
My imaginary friend Givitago takes over when I'm not sure of myself in print. He's not a complete fool - several bits are missing.

Wonderful work, Kath. You are talented Did you design the map yourself? Do you draw on the blank canvas and plan the colours beforehand? A map of Wiltshire would be an excellent project for me when I've finished the cats among nasturtiums. The tiger is beautiful and so are the sparrows and the flowers. All excellent.
Naughty birds! I expect they were looking for insects. Their little brains would expect them to be there. Hope the netting protects the plants.
Raining today, quite heavily while I was waiting for a bus but I was under a shelter. Played Mahjong with the U3A Group. It's U3A Gardening Group tomorrow morning: a topical subject; "Bulbs Indoors and Out".

Went to a U3A Gardening Group talk and slide-show this morning on bulbs, indoors and out. Such an interesting gardening gave the talk, a real plantsman, who made it very entertaining.
Kath, I've just watched a "Gardeners World" programme about a man who grows fuschias. He has hundreds of them.
I'm out now to a Quaker Funeral, the mother of one of the Friends at the meeting I attend.

| Thanks Penny, no I didn't design the 'Map of the Netherl;ands' myself. When visiting Holland I bought it as a kit from a handicraft shop in The Hague. That tv programme sounds interesting, I'll have to see if that is on BBC I Player

Hope you find the programme, Kath. It was on cable the other day, the Gardening Programme. Colder this evening, think I'll put the heating on. Went to yoga class this morning and fell all stretched now.
Bought a juicer and have been making juice from a mixture of fruits. Want to try vegetables next.

I saw the programme again, Kath. The name of the fuschia gardener was West from London. He has a National Collection.
Cold here this Saturday morning. Looks as though pigeons have got at my brassicas so I've rigged up netting and as long as they don't walk under it, it might provide protection.
Time for the first cup of tea of the day. Hope you are well and that everyone has a good weekend.

Yes, where are the doggies?!! I was about to speak, I think, when that photo was taken, that's why I'm pulling a face.
I've framed my copy of the photo and have one each for my sister (boxers) and friend, Janet (Pickles - the hairy little dog in the middle of the bottom row).
Do you have a dog? Cecil, the chocolate labrador, is with his "minder" in Bradford-on-Avon for the weekend, until Monday evening, so that gives me a break from him - he's more "trouble" than the other two.
I'm watching "Miss Marple" on TV and going to make a cup of tea.
