Hello Kath and Don.

Ah, eagle-eyed-Kath. I can't say I noticed anything. I'll go and have a look and take a leaf to the garden centre to see what they think.

p.s. Just looked closer at the leaves and see what you mean. Would leaf cutters be active at this time of year?

The notches in those leaves don't look like vine weevil damage to me, and given that the damage is so minimal, I think suggesting the use of a systemic insecticide (especially just before the flowers open) is a bit irresponsible.

Our native bees have a hard enough time of it as it is, don't they?

I think it's still too cold for leaf cutters Penny, I wouldn't worry about it Penny, as Don and I said it looks a lovely healthy plant, I was only worried that there might be Vine Weevil larvae in the soil from last years adults.

OK, Kath. I'll keep an eye out for vine weevils, though I've not seen any here in the past. Hopefully, I won't.

Thanks, Kath. I now know what to look out for. The camelia has it's first bud opening on a very pleasant day. Apparently, we are due sleet and much colder weather in a few days time.

I planted angelica in the herb garden today and a Bergenia cordifolia in the flower garden.
