Whenever you ask a question, please tell us what kind of tree you are asking about and where it is kept, along with your care regime.

My name is Don and I'm a bonsaiholic.
My imaginary friend Givitago takes over when I'm not sure of myself in print. He's not a complete fool - several bits are missing.

sorry

tree is a : Ulmus parvifolia
its kept on my balcony sheltered from wind. and brought in if there's any mega bad storms or anything. as there's not a huge amount of shelter. care wise i check if it needs watering daily. and that's about it at the moment :S

I think that I already said that it may or may not act deciduous. Yellow or brown leaves may drop or be taken off. It doesn't know what to do at the moment because you keep moving it from one environment to another. Keep it either out or in, preferably out and make sure that you are now giving it enough water. It will benefit from a semi-dormant winter and be much stronger in the spring.
