I have a small Chinese Elm, kept indoors on a brightish windowsill, although it is winter. I noticed recently some of the leaves were getting a bit big and so I pruned it back. Now a few weeks later I have aggressive new growth with even bigger leaves! What do I do?  Complete beginner so any advice welcome.

How do.
Your Elm is making big leaves to get the most out of the available light. Mine live outside all the time and therefore have tiny leaves.
If your's HAS to be inside, give it the best possible light, Prune the roots by about 33% and use a low nitrate fertiliser such as those made for tomatoes.

My imaginary friend Givitago takes over when I'm not sure of myself in print. He's not a complete fool - several bits are missing.

More natural light, or a really powerful grow light, are the only solutions to getting an indoor Chinese Elm to produce small leaves.
