My spare lady
To be sung to the tune 'Accustomed to her face'
(It's not about Mary, I hasten to add)
I've thrown a custard in her face.
It almost filled the wrinkles in.
I've got so used to hear her say "I'm ugly" every day
her pimples scurf and furrowed brow
are quite familiar to me now
like drinking ale and port and gin.
I'm quite aware she's just a woman and so easy to ignore
always just as ugly as she was the day before.
She's grown accustomed to a trace
of custard in her hair.
