To make holes in stone, one needs a hammer-drill.

As you will not be making regular use of one, it would be more economical to find a tool hire company and rent one by the day.

Good idea, Stymie. Thanks. I did, in fact, see a sign for tool hire on a DIY store I passed this morning, and there's another hire firm nearby. If I did drill holes, would I line them with "Rawlplugs" or sealant of any kind to fix in the bolts? I think it will probably be easier, in the long run, to get railway sleepers. But I'll think on't.

I believe that there are bolts with built in casings which expand to grip the hole as they are tightened. 'Rawlbolts' if I've spelled it correctly, being one type.

Thanks very much for the link, Keith. Very useful. I'll let you know if I get one, though I'm leaning towards using railway sleepers to bolt the greenhouse down. I'll need a drill, even if not one for the paving stones.

Hello Jinny.
Hope you do get your greenhouse. I've always wanted
one. I've come to a halt, with one side and the doors still
to complete. I'm waiting for warmer weather so I can
drape the pieces over an open door, to make it easier to
assemble by myself. I'm hoping a neighbour will help
with the cladding and fitting of the semi-rigid panels
(instead of glass), when he is well enough. He damaged
his leg in a fall and I'm walking his little dog daily for
another month. Then I have to get railway sleepers,
to which I'll bolt the frame, so it will be a while yet.
