hi basically i planted a jack pine seed and it has come through very well but there are about 25 shoots coming out of the base of the plant where it breaks through the soil. there isnt a main sprout either and im not sure what to do.. the shoots start off fat and gradually up very pointy. the plant is about 5 inches high and there is a spread of about the same, many thanks

Hi Bonsai King,

Without actually seeing your Jack Pine, eg a photo, it's difficult to know exactly what you mean.

Personally, I would grow it-on for a couple of years, just how it is, you never know, from your description, it might have potential for a cascade/semi-cascade - Kath

There might be a clump style on the cards by the sound of it.

My name is Don and I'm a bonsaiholic.
My imaginary friend Givitago takes over when I'm not sure of myself in print. He's not a complete fool - several bits are missing.
