With the warnings of gales and flooding ringing in our ears, I urge everyone to do as I have. I've lifted my trees off their pedestals and shelves and placed them where they will not get as much damage if they're blown over. The prospect of 80 mph winds can be expensive.

I'll definitely see to the bonsai that always blow over. I see one of my neighbour's fencing panels is flapping! I'm crossing fingers that the storm misses us but we probably won't be that lucky. The following Met Office report gives severe gales due as due to start this afternoon.
I see Wiltshire isn't mentioned specifically, but I'm only 10 miles from Bath.
South West England:
Bath + NE Somerset
Bournemouth
Bristol
Dorset
N Somerset
Poole
S Gloucestershire
Somerset
Severe Gales 1300 Mon 10 1600 Mon 10
Strong west or southwesterly winds will gust up to 60 to 70 mph at times this afternoon, especially in exposed parts, before easing a little later on. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice regarding traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

all calm now, nice to feel the trees are safe again. I just had to firm up my recently re-potted Larch.

| The winds are back with a vengeance these last two and a half days and still blowing with snow flurries. Minus 2C last night and more to follow. Wind direction is gradually veering North from West and it looks like being a Northeaster for Easter [if you follow the drift]. Keep 'em tied down and be sparing with the chocolate eggs.
